The National Hispanic Child and Family Development Institute (NHCFDI) is a national resource center focused on supporting Hispanic children, families and local organizations across America that work to improve the lives of Hispanics.

The goal of NHCFDI is to create an effective national voice and resource center that will support the needs of Hispanics and other minority families by sharing best practices, program models and expertise with the community organizations that serve Hispanic children and families.

NHCFDI has developed a partnership with the Albuquerque Public Schools and is currently providing best practice after school programming in five schools through the 21st Century Community Learning Centers, Supplemental Educational Services, and the TANF School-Age Before, After and Summer School Grant.

The program goals include the planning, implementation, and expansion of extended learning opportunities for the benefit of the educational, health, social service, cultural, and recreational needs of the children and their adult family members.

NHCFDI, Educational Support Division, has provided national training on effective after school programming of students and families at the 21st Century Round-up in Albuquerque, Austin, and Washington, DC.

Supplemental Educational Services are also being offered to other public schools throughout the state of New Mexico. NHCFDI is providing technical support to schools, families, and students in existing charter schools and potential charter school applicants.

NHCFDI, Educational Support Division, is represented in local, state and national advisory and planning committees which represent services for children, youth, and families.
