“No Child Left Behind Act”
At No Cost to Parents

Under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, states and school districts are required to make Annual Yearly Progress (AYP) determinations for districts and schools, respectively. The “TACS” Program is designed to provide research-based reading, writing and math tutoring services for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Tutoring services will be provided in small groups. Services will be offered at the student’s schools, community centers and public libraries by trained certified teachers and trained staff. Placement will be based upon individual assessment(s), on-going coordination and communication with the student’s teacher and parents. Tutoring services are offered state wide at any qualifying schools.

Does my child qualify for tutoring?

Schools that Qualify
  • Is my child at a School In Need of Improvement. Click link for qualifying schools in NM
  • If your school has been identified in Need of Improvement, then your child qualifies for Free Tutoring Services
  • Tutoring hours vary per school districts. Call for more information.

Who will work with my child?

  • YDI will provide teachers and staff who are certified and knowledgeable in English as a Second Language (ESL), Bilingual Education, Special Education, English, and Math.
  • Computer based instruction will be available implementing the KAPLAN K-12 Learning Services Program.

How will I know that my child is learning?

  • You will receive a pre and post assessment report from your child’s tutor
  • Your child’s tutor will give his/her teacher a copy of the pre and post assessments results.

How is the tutoring program going to help my child?

  • Tutoring will assist your child in becoming a better reader and/or math student
  • Tutoring sessions will be in small groups
  • Your child should make at least a half grade level gain academically in reading and/or in math.
