YDI Programs - Providing Support for Every Step of Life

AT YDI, WE BELIEVE HEALTHY CHILDHOODS BEGIN IN THE WOMB.

Clients can take parenting and childcare lessons from professionals, so their unborn child can be brought into a healthy environment with YDI programs like our Caring Couples, Healthy Children program. Important skills like pre- and post-natal health and how to better communicate with your partner are taught, among many other abilities.

EARLY HEAD START HELPS CHILDREN GET OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT.

YDI realizes that a child’s first months and years is a very crucial period. That’s why Early Head Start has sites in Albuquerque and northern New Mexico with a passionate and dedicated staff focused on developing children’s well-being from every angle. Physical, emotional, cognitive, language and motor skills are all addressed in a loving and nurturing environment, while giving parents in need the time to pursue educational or professional goals.

A GOOD EDUCATION NEEDS A SOLID FOUNDATION.

YDI has 33 Head Start centers across New Mexico to assure that children are prepared for the beginning of their educational careers. A caring and quality staff assures that Head Start kids are growing healthily and strong in every aspect of their lives- from eating balanced, healthy meals, to learning how to express their feelings, to becoming literate and understanding of numbers and concepts, Head Start looks at developing the “whole” child.

EDUCATION DOES NOT HAVE TO END WHEN THE SCHOOL BELL RINGS

At YDI, we understand that some students may be struggling. That’s why we have services like Tutoring for Academic Success (or “TACS”) to make sure children don’t fall through the gaps. YDI employs an intelligent and efficient teaching staff that stays after school hours to make sure kids’ needs are met.

THE JOB MARKET IN NEW MEXICO IS CHANGING. WHY SHOULD JOB TRAINING STAY THE SAME?

Filmmaking is the next big industry for our state. At YDI, we have Mi Voz, a free after school program for middle school aged kids to learn both the creative and technical side of making their own media. Done by working professionals in a safe environment where kids are free to express themselves.Only at YDI.

TRADITIONAL EDUCATION DOES NOT WORK FOR EVERY YOUTH ALL THE TIME

That’s why at YDI we have GED Classes where young people are given a chance at a new educational career. With small classes where students are given individual attention, professional educators can tailor teaching methods to students’ strengths. Signing up for GED classes at YDI is easily accessible for the general public and from other YDI programs.

LIFE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IS COMPLICATED. WHY SHOULD OUTREACH PROGRAMS BE?

At YDI’s 4th Street Outreach program, or 4SO, clients are given access to a vast array of services all under one roof. With a unique combination that joins professional counseling and case management with theater, music, painting and other art therapies, 4SO is one of the best prevention, intervention, and treatment centers in the country.

LIFE IS FULL OF NEW BEGINNINGS. YDI IS THERE EVERY STEP OF THE WAY.

A good continuum of care sees its clients graduate. A great continuum of care never ends. With a ton of post-graduation programs for adults like BEST ( Basic Employability Skills Training ) , clients are taught the particulars of entering the job force- even getting help with writing a resume to finding the right job. It doesn’t stop there, and the programs on this page are just examples of our over 60 programs for all ages across the state of New Mexico.
