In December 2016, Ramona Sanchez was elected Chair of the Board of Directors. Her years of volunteer service to YDI began in 1998 serving on the YDI Head Start/Early Head Start Policy Council. Then she was elected to the YDI Board of Directors where she continues this service currently.
Her educational background includes: Master and Bachelor Degrees in Business Administration with Honors of Cum Laude, President’s List and the National Dean’s List. She is a graduate of Leadership Albuquerque through the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce and JustFaith Social Justice Studies through the Archdiocese of Santa Fe.
Her professional background includes: 32 years of employment in Public sector with Bernalillo County Government and The University of New Mexico; and 10 years of employment in Private sector with various local companies. Over the past 42 years of employment, she has held many job titles all relative to Business Administration. In December 2016 she retired and today she fully dedicates her time to serving YDI.
Her past community affiliations include: Member of the Board of Trustees for the University of New Mexico Mental Health Care; Member of the Community Advisory Board for Bernalillo County Juvenile Detention Youth Services Center; Member of the Restructure/Instructional Council for Albuquerque Public Schools; Member of the Human Resource Management Association of New Mexico; Member of the Board of Directors for the National Alumni Association for The College of Santa Fe.
Mrs. Sanchez says “I cherish the time that I have dedicated to YDI and I look forward to providing YDI with many more years of service in the future.”
