IT’S A NEW YEAR AT YDI

Yesterday all of our 425 employees came together for YDI’s annual company-wide training. New and current staff from all over the state of New Mexico, from Taos to Las Cruces, made the journey for a full day of collaboration in downtown Albuquerque. Staff from all of our programs took part in training like Building Positive Professional Relationships and Boundaries, Updated YDI Agency Policies, Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse & Neglect. All of these training are crucial to maximizing the quality of the services we provide to the families of New Mexico. If a teacher is unable to recognize potential child abuse, then the children of our Head Start programs are put in harm’s way for a longer period of time. If an employee is unclear about professional relationships and boundaries, he or she may be paying less attention to the services and needs of their client. It is key that we all understand these components of professionalism as we grow as an organization.

This annual training also marks the point in the year when all of our Early Childhood Education teachers come back to work from a well-deserved summer vacation. The teachers are rested and ready to get back in the classroom to work with our little ones.
