City of Albuquerque opens $17 million transitional housing facility for homeless youth

Albuquerque’s first transitional housing facility for young adults ages 18 to 24 has officially opened. The Gateway Young Adult Housing Navigation Center, located on San Mateo and Cutler NE, will provide housing, case management, and life skills training for up to 41 residents. Operated by YDI, the program offers a 90-day stay with support to help youth reenroll in school, find jobs, and build stability. Community members recently celebrated the milestone with a housewarming event, donating items to make the new residents feel at home. A second phase of renovation will expand capacity to 91 beds.

Abigail Stiles, senior policy analyst, leads a tour of the facility alongside Jennifer Burke from Serenity Mesa during a housewarming gathering at the housing facility in Albuquerque on Tuesday.
