The Adult Basic Education (ABE) Integrated Education and Training (IET) program provides free CDL and Medical Assistant training in Albuquerque. We help New Mexico residents earn their High School Equivalency (HSE) while gaining the skills for in-demand, high-wage careers—all at no cost. Our programs are designed for adults seeking a better future right here in Bernalillo County.

Medical Assistant IET Program

Training Provider: Albuquerque Medical Assistant School (AMAS)

Program Duration: 18 weeks

Schedule Commitment: 20+ hours per week

About This Program:

Being a medical assistant is a reliable way to get your foot in the door toward a greater medical career right here in Albuquerque. The work primarily consists of basic medical procedures, diagnostic tests, and administrative work at clinics and medical centers throughout New Mexico. With every medical center needing assistants, demand is high, and your newest job could be right up the street from you!

Program Requirements:

  • 18+ years old
  • Valid ID & Social Security Card
  • Vaccination records
  • Reliable transportation
  • Pass ABE & AMAS screening process
  • Commitment to 20+ hours weekly

Ideal Candidate:

  • Interest in the healthcare field
  • Seeking a stable career in Albuquerque

CDL-A License Training

Training Provider: Albuquerque Truck Driving School (ABQTDS)

Program Duration: 8 weeks

Schedule Commitment: 45+ hours per week

Long-haul trucking, construction vehicles, buses, and garbage trucks all require the professional training you’ll gain from this IET. Alongside driving skills, you’ll gain the education and employability training needed for today’s job market. From driving across state lines to operating Albuquerque city buses, a CDL-A license offers a reliable career path with flexibility and stability for anyone ready to get behind the wheel.

Program Requirements:

  • 18+ years old
  • Valid ID & Social Security Card
  • Reliable transportation
  • Clean driving record (no DUIs)
  • Pass federal drug screening
  • Pass ABE & ABQTDS screening
  • Commitment to 45+ hours weekly

Ideal Candidate:

  • Interest in trucking or city jobs
  • Seeking immediate employment in Albuquerque
  • Prefers a hands-on, mobile work environment
