The infamous Coronavirus has made its way overseas and threatens to infect the people in North America. The YDI team would like to take a few minutes to remind people how they can reduce their risk of catching the virus and to stay healthy.

Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, the infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure, and even death. To be on the safe side, we do recommend treating all flu like-symptoms as potentially having the virus. It is better to be safe than sorry and go to the doctor and inquire about testing.

Recently, The surgeon general on Saturday urged the public to stop buying masks, warning that it won’t help against the spread of the coronavirus. So, it will be best to forego the mask and follow the standard flu-prevention methods below.

Standard recommendations to prevent infection spread include regular hand washing, covering mouth and nose when coughing. Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing.
